About Toptail

Since 1999, TOPTAIL has been dedicated to excellence in Labrador Retrievers. Founder Stephen Wu brings nearly three decades of experience in breeding and training, with a focus on health, stable temperament, sound conformation, and breed type.

Our breeding programme is guided by scientific principles and respect for life. We select breeding stock from established international champion bloodlines and combine careful pedigree planning with health testing and genetic screening. Our aim is to produce Labradors with sound conformation, dependable temperaments, and the best possible foundation for a healthy life.

Dedicated to One Breed

Toptail has specialised in Labrador Retrievers for nearly thirty years. This long-term commitment allows us to deepen our understanding of the breed’s pedigrees, conformation, temperament, and development, and to refine our breeding programme with each generation.

A Family-Run Kennel

Toptail is jointly managed by Stephen Wu, his long-standing partner Esther, and C. C. Wu. Together, they uphold the kennel’s standards in breeding, husbandry, and education, providing a secure and nurturing environment for the dogs in their care.

Legacy and Continuity

As leadership gradually passes from the first generation to the second, Toptail continues to pass on its knowledge, experience, and breeding principles. This continuity supports our commitment to the dogs we breed and the families who place their trust in us.

Professional Team and International Experience

Stephen Wu previously served as Convener and President of the Labrador Retriever Club under the Taiwan Kennel Association (TKA). His other roles included Executive Director of the Chinese Pet Association (CPA) and President of its Miaoli Branch, Chairman of the Labrador Retriever Promotion Committee under the Kennel Club of Taiwan (KCT), and founding Executive Director of the Miaoli Pet Business Association.

Esther serves as Chairperson of the Taiwan Labrador Retriever Promotion Committee. She previously served on the KCT Handler Committee and holds a professional handler qualification. She has presented Toptail Labradors at international dog shows and received awards overseas.

Raised in a professional breeding environment, C. C. Wu began studying pet business management in high school and later majored in pet care and grooming at university. She holds professional qualifications in dog handling, dog grooming, and cat grooming, and has achieved strong results in overseas grooming competitions.

At the age of four, C. C. travelled with her family and a Toptail Labrador to Maryland, USA, to take part in the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac Specialty, where she and the dog received an award. This early experience reflects the family’s involvement in the international Labrador community across generations.

Toptail Labradors have gone to more than twenty countries, and dogs descended from our bloodlines have earned championship titles and awards around the world. We are honoured to share the experience gained through decades of breeding and exhibiting with Labrador enthusiasts and families in Taiwan.
